What Is Personal Injury Protection?

The personal injury protection policy, also called PIP, is designed to cover auto accident injuries. You are covered no matter who was at fault. It is often called no-fault insurance.

The injury occurs as a result of a "car crash", so most Health insurance companies don't pay medical expenses related to car accidents. PIP can cover you and the passengers in your car when an accident occurs. PIP can also be used to cover passengers riding in another vehicle which is not their own. In certain states, you may also be eligible for additional coverage. This may include lost wages, transportation, other medical related costs and funeral expenses

If you are a pedestrian, bicyclist or cyclist in an accident with a vehicle, you may be covered by PIP. Furthermore, if the accident is your fault, PIP may also cover you (unless you are in the process of breaking the law, and/or driving under the influence - but we’re not attorneys so you should always consult an attorney to protect your rights and benefits!).
